I love to keep my hands moving and if I happen to be away from the computer that usually means I have a piece of paper and an Xacto or pencil in my hands. I enjoy knitting and crocheting but don't get to do either as often.
I started this blog in 2005 and it started as a way for me to get away from the computer and work on handmade projects. My crafty life has slowly taken over and now I split my time between my design and crafty sides.
I design and produce tutorials for paper and recycling items alike—other crafty endeavors are here and there. You can see more examples of my work on my portfolio site or my A Little Hut shop where I sell patterns for electronic cutting machines and some printables.
I live in Texas with my husband and two children—a boy (12) and a girl (9). My little ones are the reason why I left my 9-5 job to work from home. Now I love being my own boss and running my design and craft businesses at my own pace.
My work has been featured in many online publications such as Design Sponge, Craft, Apartment Therapy, Ohdeedoh, Re-nest, Decor8, Poppytalk, Lifehacker, and Bloesem among others. I have published tutorials on the Craft magazine and site and was a guest crafter on HGTV’s That’s Clever and I'm listed on the top 50 Mom bloggers on Babble.
I have contributed projects to two books: Drip Dot Swirl: 94 Incredible Patterns for Design and illustration and Knot Thread Stitch: Exploring Creativity through Embroidery and Mixed Media. I was also a guest eco-crafter throughout 2010 on Going Green With Yolanda Green a Houston TV show and I taught a class at our local Paper Source.
I hope you find some fun crafts to work on and if you ever need to contact me, please email me at info at alittlehut dot com. I'd love to see your projects or answer any questions you may have. You can also follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.
